Matching Pyjamas and Toast in Bed: The Ritual That Inspired Our New Collection

By Sophia Leppard, Founder of Yonder

Weekend mornings changed when we became parents. Gone were the lazy lie-ins. These days, it’s all about toast in bed, a film on in the background, and a small person wriggling between us. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A while back, we bought the biggest bed we could find—one of those super emperor ones. We figured if sleep was going to be chaotic, we may as well make it cosy. Over time, that bed has become the heart of our weekends. It’s where we eat breakfast, stretch out in our pyjamas, and just slow down.

Most Sundays begin with a quiet kind of chaos. Crumpled duvets, block-printed cotton, and sticky fingers reaching for toast (we’re currently obsessed with tahini and honey on sourdough). The crumbs drive me mad, but they’re also oddly comforting — little reminders of a morning spent together.

The Inspiration Behind Our Matching Pyjamas

These moments are what inspired our new matching organic cotton pyjama collection.

I wanted sleepwear that reflected how we live — slow, playful, and a little bit nostalgic. Pieces that feel soft and gentle, but also considered. Made from breathable organic cotton, printed by hand using traditional block-printing techniques, and designed to be worn and loved.

The idea of matching wasn't about being cute for the sake of it. It was about connection. A quiet, visual bond between parent and child. Our daughter loves choosing the print she wears — and I love watching her feel part of something when we match. It’s become a tradition of its own.

Designing for Real Life

As both a mother and designer, I care deeply about how things feel — not just on the skin, but in your everyday life. These pyjamas were created with comfort and simplicity in mind. They’re soft enough for sleeping, beautiful enough for lounging, and made to last.

Each detail, from the natural corozo nut buttons to the hand-printed candy stripes, is there for a reason. And because we use organic cotton that's grown without harmful chemicals, they're as gentle on the planet as they are on little ones’ skin.

We’ve made them in matching children’s and adult sizes so that you can share the moment, whether you’re curled up in bed together or padding around the kitchen making pancakes.

A Small Ritual That Means a Lot

These aren’t just pyjamas — they’re part of the memory. For me, they’ve come to represent the best parts of family life: the slowness, the togetherness, the sticky fingers and the quiet chaos.

So if you’re looking for something soft, simple, and special to wear on your own Sunday mornings, our new collection is now online. I hope it brings you a little bit of the joy it's brought us.

With love, Sophia x
